Back to School with National Book Store

Thursday, May 31, 2018

What, wait, is it back to school already? Let the word back-to-school sink in my mind for a moment. Okay, it's June and I presume that kids are enjoying the last wave of vacation before bidding summer goodbye. The school year 2018 will finally resume days or week from now and here's a burning question, are you ready?

If you'll ask me, it's a resounding YES!!! After enrolling my son for third grade last April, I was invited to do my back-to-school shopping at National Book Store. I went shopping for my son's back-to-school essentials at National Book Store SM North EDSA branch last May 15, 2018 and to my surprise, I saw new and exciting items on display that I've never seen before. Sharing my haul and back-to-school shopping tips after the jump.

Back to School Shopping Party at National Book Store

If you saw my IG post, mommy, and lifestyle bloggers were invited to a back to school shopping party at National Book Store and were all giddy to shop and see what's in store for us in one of the branches. I was in school supplies heaven and discovered exciting offerings that parents and students should check out.

What to Get at National Book Store?

1. Get a Grab & Go pack

For quick, easy, and convenient shopping, get the Grab & Go packs filled with supplies for Grades 1-3 and Grades 4 to 6. Prices for these start at P145 and depends on what's included inside. I also saw a drawing and writing set variants in one of the shelves which I find interesting and nice for students who are organized when it comes to their drawing and writing materials.

2. Get a Backpack to School

What about a backpack conveniently filled with the essentials every young learner needs like brown envelopes, notebooks, pens, pencils, and more? This is a very nice idea, NBS! There are backpacks for Grades 1 to 3 for only P329 and Grades 4 to 6 or P399. I also like that it's made of plastic and nylon type material perfect for rainy day season that also starts right after back-to-school.

Back to School Shopping Haul

My son's school has not given us a list of school supplies yet that's why I only bought the essentials that he will be using for the whole year. These are the items that every student need so I think that I made the right decision to buy the things you'll see below.

Protect your books and notebooks by using plastic cover that comes in different gauge and length. Did you know that gauge 4 is has the right thickness to protect books and notebooks? It's what I'm using for almost six years now and it's durable. My son's books and notebook's cover has a minimal chip on the edges after every school year.

For writing supplies, I bought the basics that a grade schooler needs- pencil, eraser, and pencil case. My son's favorite brand is Faber Castell because it doesn't break easily and the blackness of the lead makes his drawing pop-out in any kind of paper.

These are the miscellaneous item that we need from every week or if there's a project or homework. I also bought bond paper for all printing needs.

I was surprised to see a uniform section at National Book Store. I saw different colors of handkerchiefs too and bought this set for my son. These are the hygiene essentials that he brings to school everyday for quick clean-ups.
