Product Review: Be Organic Emu Skin Perfecting Cream

Thursday, October 17, 2013

Hello dearies! I'm very excited to share my review today because it's another first :) It's my first organic/natural face cream to date :) I'm a long time user of GNC Vitamin C Moisturizing cream and consumed more than five tubs already. And because I'm slowly incorporating organic products to my body and hair care essentials, I think now is the right time to have one for the face.

Remember my post about my discover of a new brand of organic soap that I've posted months ago? I mused my story there when I first saw the brand Be Organic. Aside from the soaps, this EMU Skin Perfecting cream caught my attention. I asked the SA about this cream and she said that it's a new product from Be Organic and explained to me that it's packed with vitamins and natural skin perfecting ingredients. Sounds very pleasing to the ears and kudos to the SA who knew what she really sells. Back to my story, I was tempted to buy a tub that time but I just brought an exact amount of money that day. So I said to myself that I'll come back for this cream on my next visit to SESOU store whether it's at Trinoma or Robinson's Galleria branch. But this lemming or wish came true when Ms. Cheryl of Be Organic Bath and Body sent me samples of their products. I'm really not expecting that she included a full-sized EMU Skin Perfecting Cream when I received my package. All I know is that she will just send me soaps because it was the only thing that I've mentioned on my previous post about my review on the Papaya Kojic soap. It's very heart warming when you're not expecting to receive products beyond your expectations. Don't get me wrong but I'm really overwhelmed with the products she sent me.

Here's a little information about EMU OIL from Web MD:
The emu is a flightless bird that resembles a small ostrich. Emu oil is taken from the fat of this bird during processing. It is used to make medicine.

Emu oil is taken by mouth for improving cholesterol levels, as a source of polyunsaturated and monounsaturated fatty acids, for weight loss, and as a cough syrup for colds, H1N1 (swine) flu, and flu.

Some people apply emu oil to the skin for relief from sore muscles, aching joints, pain or inflammation, carpal tunnel syndrome, sciatica, shin splints, and gout. It is also used topically to improve healing of wounds, cuts, and burns from radiationtherapy; to reduce bruises and stretch marks; to reduce scarring and keloids; to heal surgical wounds caused by removing skin for skin grafts; to reduce redness due to acne; and to soften dry cuticles and promote healthy nails. Emu oil is also used topically athlete's foot; diaper rash; canker sores; chapped lips; poor circulation; and skin conditions, including cancer, dry skin, dandruff, eczema, psoriasis, wrinkles or age spots. It is also used to protect skin from sun damage and to promote more youthful looking skin.

Emu oil is also applied to the skin to reduce pain and irritation from shingles, bedsores, hemorrhoids, diabetic nerve pain, insect bites, earaches, eye irritation, "growing pains," and frostbite. It is used for rashes, razor burn, and nicks.

Some massage therapists apply emu oil to clients’ skin as part of their treatment.

Some people put emu oil inside the nose to treat colds and flu.

This tub will last me a long long way!
Be Organic EMU Skin Perfecting Cream
The texture is thick but it's very light on the skin and easily absorbed.

What I like:
  • The price- very affordable.
  • The scent is not over powering. There's a faint medicinal scent but it's tolerable.
  • A pea sized is enough for my entire face. A little goes a long way!
  • It's versatile- can be used for face and body.
  • It's very light on the skin and non- greasy.
  • Once absorbed, it made my skin mattified.
  • My skin feels velvety smooth and soft to touch.
  • Made my skin radiant and glowing.
  • I noticed that my post acne marks appear lighter now. If I was able to take a photo of my big pimple mark on my right cheek way before I received this cream, I'll be able to show you that it really lightened.
  • It made my pimple smaller after 2 days of consecutive use, on the 3rd and 4th day it's totally dry.
  • No breakouts, allergies or whatsoever.

What I don't like:
  • Not easily accessible.
  • Doesn't have batch, manufacturing and expiry date.
  • The packaging can be unhygienic because it's in a tub so I need a spatula to scoop out the product and prevent it from contamination.
Will I repurchase? Yes!

Recommendation:
I give this a 5/5 rating. Perfect score eh? It's love at first try! The moment I opened the tub and applied it on my face I said to myself that this will be a great alternative to my HG facial cream- the GNC Vitamin C Moisturizer. Both performs and function well on the moisturizing and whitening department. So why I gave this a perfect score, because this is my first organic/natural face cream that didn't gave me breakouts or allergies or whatsoever. Another thing that made me amazed with this product is that it didn't aggravated the cystic pimples that's starting to form on my chin due to my monthly period. I also believe that the ingredients infused with 100% emu made it more potent thus making it effective in making blemishes appear lighter and skin texture more refined.

Have you tried skin care products with Emu Oil? I would love to hear your thoughts about it :)

Good Times!~

  6. How much is it? I'm actually interested with organic products that don't aggravate breakouts. The last one i tried made my skin even worse.

  14. Sabi ko na nga ba, I'll find a review of this on your blog. I saw this at taste central and I'm looking for a cream moisturizer with emu oil. I wonder what preservatives they used on this. Parang scary lalo kasi walang expiry and batch information.

    1. Yup, Rae sadly walang expiry date kaya not sure din ako until when ko gagamitin yung sakin pero maganda sa skin saka mura lang ang tagal maubos ng isang tub. I hope nga they will put batch number, manufacturing and expiry date sa products nila knowing organic skin care lasts only 6 months.
