Product Review: Etude House Two Tone Treatment Hair Color

Thursday, June 28, 2018

If there's one thing that I can call forever in my life (aside from my husband), that would be my hair coloring love affair! I've been coloring my hair for years now. The schedule depends on if the roots are starting to show or the color has been washed out. I can say that regular hair coloring is the reason why I always achieve the hair color that I want without bleaching since most of the shades I apply are light blonde, blonde, ash, ash blonde, and light brown.

If you notice, most of the colors are on the lighter side of the hair color wheel. There are times that I want to try a bold and bright color like purple, red, or blue BUT it requires bleaching which is a NO-NO for my thin and limp hair. But guess what- I discovered a product that will somehow make my hair purple today, green next week, and for an entire month. Enter Etude House Two Tone Treatment Hair Color. Swatching the hair color treatment in a tissue paper so you can see how bad it stains. You may also check my left index finger that has a bit of stain already.

Though the color payoff in my hair is so bright, those with virgin black hair will need to apply more product and leave the treatment longer to achieve the purple shade but don't expect it to be exactly as the color in the tube.

Purple, Purple and Blue alternately, and Purple on the right, Blue on the left.
The first photo was taken the next day after the application while the second and third photo was taken two weeks after the first application

Among the two shades, I like the purple mystery more because it really shows an intensely deep color while the fantasy blue shade turns out bluish green, dark green, or light green after a week. I'm not sure why the true blue color doesn't show in my hair.

What I like:
  • The product comes in a tube packing that is well-sealed upon purchase.
  • No need to guess the shade of the product inside the tube because what you see is what you get.
  • The tube is easy to squeeze upon dispensing the product.
  • I can say that it is affordably priced at P478 per tube.
  • A little amount goes a long way.
  • There's no unpleasant smell.
  • It is easy to use. It's like applying a shampoo or conditioner in your hair.
  • It made my hair soft and shiny plus I love that it leaves a sweet fruity scent.
  • Even if I shampoo my hair every day, the color doesn't fade quickly.
  • It's easily available.
  • Apply different colors at the same time. Buy all the shades and make your unicorn or mermaid hair dream come true. Hahaha!
  • Gives a minimal staining on the skin, clothes, and hands. After one or two washes, the color stains are completely gone.
  • The expiry date is stamped at the top edge of the tube.

What I don't like:
  • The color bleeds for two to three days.
  • Fantasy blue doesn't give the true blue color that I want to achieve.

Will I repurchase? YES! Planning to buy Spicy Red and Forest Green soon!

Recommendation:
I give this a 4.5/5 rating. This temporary color has fulfilled my dream of becoming purple and green head without bleaching. The color stays beautiful for more than two weeks even if I shampoo my hair every day. TIPS: Dry your hair completely to minimize color bleeding and staining your skin and clothes. Wear gloves when applying the product. Use dark colored towels because it may stain big time on the first three days.

If you have black or dark colored hair, it's better to leave the treatment for 30-45 minutes so that it will give your hair a more vivid color. If you have light colored hair, 15-20 minutes will do. If you really want a bright and bold color like that of my photo above, leave on the treatment for more than 5 hours. Etude House Color Two Tone Treatment is the answer to your unicorn or mermaid hair color dreams. I recommend this product if you want to achieve a bold and bright color but afraid to go hair bleaching. I also love the fact that I can change my color daily, weekly, or monthly in all the orientation or styles I want. Hohoho!

Have you tried using temporary hair coloring products?

    1. Hi Angelo,

Just to be sure, you may leave the product on your hair for more than 1 hour. Ako I slept with the purple mga 5 hours kaya sobrang kulay nya.

  3. Go for the spicy red one. It smells like cherries and the color will definitely look great on you since we had the same blonde-base hair color. https://instagram.com/p/BlCPlDwjglv/
