     In my previous post, I've mentioned that childbearing and child rearing are two of the most important aspects of motherhood. I believe that once a woman decided to have a family, she wholeheartedly accepts responsibility and dedication of taking good care of the children at all times.

     The challenge is always there, especially for first-time moms. Did you know that it is important for those who want to conceive to be healthy physically and emotionally? There are so many things like preparations that the couple needs to understand so that both of them will be ready when the little one arrives. Moms-to-be, rejoice! Dr. Jesus C.      Last Monday, May 29, 2017, the First Time Mom Unit at Dr. Jesus C. Delgado Memorial Hospital was launched where invited guests, hospital administrators, doctors, and Mommy Bloggers Philippines representatives gathered to witness the blessing of the unit followed by a short program and exciting activities.

     The blessing was followed by a short speech from the medical director Dr. Rainerio Abad and Wellness Practitioner/ Functional Medicine Dr. Rolando Balburias who is also the current president and general manager of JDMH.

     Dr. Rolando or "Oyie" gave us a short lecture on why this kind of unit is important for first-time moms and to those who are planning to have another baby. He explained to us what Optimal Birth Outcome is all about- healthy mommy and baby before, during, and after pregnancy. It's basically a care system for the mother and baby. The main goal is to educate soon-to-be-moms because like what I've said in my last post that hand me down advice don't work all the time. It is important for moms (also dads) to equip themselves with information from the experts on fertility, pregnancy, and giving birth plus what to do until the child reaches two years of age.

    When you enter inside the First Time Mom Unit, you'll be greeted by a happy ambiance. It's like a doctor's clinic but bigger because it also has a lecture room.

     When I was pregnant with Kenzo, I thought that the advice from my parents and my relatives are enough to face the reality but on the night that we were discharged from the hospital, my three-day-old son was crying so hard that I panicked and ran out of ideas on what to do. Hand me down advice did not work so my last resort was to seek medical attention first thing in the morning. Good thing that my OB-GYNE that time is a stone throw away from where I live. To cut a long story short, if I attended a lecture when I was still pregnant, I will be armed with the knowledge of what and what not to do in times like those.
