Product Review: Etude House Styling Eyeliner in 01 Black

Saturday, October 04, 2014

Because I've been trying to lessen the makeup that I wear when I go out or attend events, the only thing that I want to focus right now are my eyes. No, I will not apply eye shadows as I still can't get the hang of it (the blending) but to find the perfect eyebrow powder and eyeliner pen that will not make me look snob and old. In search of a good eyeliner, I stumbled upon Etude House months ago and saw in their shelves that they have affordable eyeliners to boot.

So I decided to buy one of their cheapest eye liner to test the color payoff and if it will smudge on my not so oily eyelids. I don't expect too much from this eyeliner because of the price but I've heard that Etude House's product are worth the try! I've been using this product almost everyday, during events and errands time. I'm sure you've seen reviews of this products from other local and foreign beauty bloggers around the web so here I am sharing my take on this product. So without further ado, click CONTINUE READING and see if this eye liner is a keeper or not :)

Pardon my fading eyebrow powder in this photo, I have my eye makeup on for almost 8 hours already.
What I like:
  • The price- one of the cheapest eyeliner pen I have to date.
  • The texture is a bit creamy.
  • Since this is retractable, all I have to do is twist and the product will come out easily.
  • No need to sharpen too.
  • This eyeliner has a refill. So you can buy a refill once you ran out of this eyeliner.
  • Color pay off is good.
  • It's pigmented.
  • Lasts up to 4 hours on my not so oily lids.
  • I can control the intensity of the lines that I'm doing on my eyelids.
  • Easy to remove using makeup removers wipes or eye makeup remover.
  • Sealed upon purchase.
  • Batch, manufacturing and expiry date printed on the label.
  • Easily accessible.
What I don't like:
  • Not water-proof as what it claims.
  • Smudges and transfers on my eyelids after application.
  • Fades away after 4 hours on my lids.
Will I repurchase? No! I'm planning to purchase another eyeliner variant from Etude House on my next visit to their store.

Recommendation:
I give this a 3.75/5 rating. I have a love-hate relationship with this product. I hate it because after application, it easily transfers on my eyelids creating another line. Can I say it smudges big time?! But I love it because it's pigmented and it doesn't make me look snob whenever I'm using this eyeliner. With this eyeliner, I can create thick and thin lines depending on my mood. The eyeliner is sturdy, I never experienced any signs of brittleness that will result into breakage. But of course, use light hand strokes and don't over twist so that only a portion of the eyeliner will come out.

I know there's a lot of Etude House fans in this page. Please share with me on the comment section below your favorite product from Etude House or what eyeliner from them you love using. Thanks dearies!

  5. Okay, now I'm embarrassed because I don't have a favorite "cosmetic" brand. I try to buy L'Oreal as much as I can, but I always end up getting me those local and affordable makeup you buy in a regular SM department store.

  6. Oh okay, so now I'm embarrassed because I don't know much about makeup to actually have a favorite. I'm familiar with L'Oreal so when I can, I get those. But I have a lot of local brands.

  7. I'm still in search of the perfect eyeliner. I usually stick to pencil eyeliners in brown color. The black ones make me look like a raccoon when they smudge.

    1. Hi,

Thank you so much for sharing your experience. Yes, hindi pwede sa oily lids and pawisin kasi mag-smudge talaga. Yes, pwede masira pag na overtwist kasi medyo malambot yung product.
