Jollibee's 21st Maaga ang Pasko Toy and Book Drive

Friday, December 11, 2015

I'm proud to say that Kenzo loves sharing his old toys with the less fortunate children. Whenever we go out and see them in the streets, he always tell me that he will keep his old toys and give it to them next time we go back to the place where we saw them. Aside from this, Kenzo also donated some of his stuff toys last Christmas in Jollibee's Maaga ang Pasko toy and book drive. I presume you've seen a big box containing toys and books inside the Jollibee stores. This is their way of giving back to the less fortunate children.

Making every Christmas brighter and more joyful for over two decades, Jollibee celebrated the launch of Maaga ang Pasko, now on its 21st year. This 2015, the country’s longest-running annual toy and book drive is continuing its mission to inspire more kindhearted Filipinos to donate gifts and spread the early Christmas cheer to less fortunate kids.
Jollibee's 21st Maaga ang Pasko Toy and Book Drive
Jolly Toy Scout volunteers pitched in to make the toys and books clean and good as new in the ‪#‎MaagaAngPasko‬ clean-up drive! You too can help make kids happy this Christmas, just drop your toy and book donations in any Jollibee store nationwide.
Spearheading the donation drive as lead Jolly Toy Scouts are child actor Marco Masa, The Voice Kids Philippines Season 1 grand winner Lyca Gairanod and finalist Darlene Vibares, and Goin’ Bulilit kids Angelo Alayon, JM Gacayan, and Belle Mariano. The new batch of Jolly Toy Scouts hope to inspire other kids like them to share their pre-loved toys and books to make other kids happy.

During the various campaign launches held nationwide, these kids led by example by donating their own toys and books. Eleven-year-old Darlene gave away a coloring storybook that her beloved grandfather gave to her. “I learned how to read through this book,” she said. “I hope whoever receives it enjoys the stories as much as I did.” Like Darlene, JM also donated a gift for budding bookworms. “My wish is that like me, another child gets to benefit from reading this book.”

A teddy bear that is dear to her heart was 10-year-old Lyca’s contribution. “It’s important to me because it was given by a fan. I always have this doll beside me when I sleep at night because it’s one of my favorites,” the young singing champion said.

For Marco, it was a cherished toy plane that his older brother gave to him. “I really love this toy but I want to make other kids happy this Christmas, so I am donating it,” he said.

Marco Masa adds his name to the Maaga Ang Pasko commitment wall – a promise to share joy this Christmas season by donating his beloved toy.
Angelo decided to give something for other kids like him who like toy automobiles. “This car and train were given by my daddy when I was four years old. To whoever receives them, merry Christmas!”

Belle donated a ball that she treasures. “I won this in an arcade game for my little brother,” she said. “He has grown bigger now and is interested in other toys, so I thought other younger kids would appreciate it more.”

The Jolly Toy Scouts were joined by Jollibee Kids Club (JKC) members from Jollibee branches in Tanza, Cavite, Walter Mart in North EDSA, Guiguinto Highway in Bulacan, Ayala Cebu, Gaisano Tibungco in Davao, and Amang Rodriguez in Pasig City, who all shared their pre-loved toys and books to the Maaga ang Pasko campaign.

Apart from leading the donations, the Jolly Toy Scouts also delighted kids and kids-at-heart with their performances of favorite Christmas carols. They even performed a special number with everyone’s favorite friend – Jollibee—putting the audience in a festive holiday mood. What’s more, the stars pledged to help make the holiday season more meaningful, leading the JKC members in putting their names in the commitment wall to help inspire other kids and kids-at-heart to follow suit.

“For us Filipinos, Christmas is not only a time to celebrate, but also a time to share and be a blessing to our fellowmen,” said Jollibee Global Brand Chief Marketing Officer and Jollibee Philippines Marketing head Francis Flores. “We are always thankful for the incredible support that Maaga ang Pasko receives from Filipinos for the past two decades. This year, we are counting on our Jolly Toy Scouts to once again help us spread Christmas joy to more kids in need.”

Give the gift of a jollier Christmas and be a part of the 21st Maaga ang Pasko. Interested parties may also drop off their pre-loved toys and books in the donation boxes found in Jollibee stores nationwide.

Baby on the Way? 5 Tips to Prepare Your Home for the New Arrival

Wednesday, December 09, 2015

As a new parent, your life revolves around your tiny and totally adorable baby. But before you bring your little one home, you need to make sure the area is safe and ready for the new arrival. In addition to shopping for baby-safe toys, diapers and cute onesies, you can take the following steps to maximize your baby’s safety and comfort:
Baby on the Way? 5 Tips to Prepare Your Home for the New Arrival
image from hdwallpapers
1. Control the Climate

Babies are less able to regulate their body temperatures compared to adults. Overheating can be particularly dangerous.

You should keep your house between 68 degrees Fahrenheit (20 Celsius) and 74 degrees Fahrenheit (23 Celsius) during the day, and 60 degrees Fahrenheit (16 Celsius) and 68 degrees Fahrenheit (20 Celsius) at night. You can save time, improve your baby’s comfort and reduce your energy bills by using automated climate control. For extra savings, you can compare electricity companies to find the perfect plan for your needs and budget. Follow this link to learn more.

2. Choose the Perfect Room

Your first big decision is to choose a room for your baby. Although you may want him or her as close to you as possible, having a separate room with a baby monitor can help either you or your partner sleep – whoever’s not on duty – when your baby wakes up at 3 a.m.

3. Find a Baby Monitor

Babies are so small that they appear frighteningly fragile. Although they are actually more resilient than they appear, new parents constantly worry about their young ones.

Modern baby monitors come with Internet capabilities so you can access them on a smartphone or mobile device. You can keep tabs on your infant anywhere with a Web connection, or just show him or her off to friends and family.

4. Baby-Proof the Home

Make sure you baby-proof your home before the baby arrives. Don't wait until you are exhausted and frantically busy caring for a newborn to get your home ready. The six or seven months between the baby's birth and the crawling stage will pass very quickly.

Start by securing any heavy objects, such as televisions, sound systems and computer equipment. Remove breakable objects, such as table lamps and vases, from surfaces that the baby can reach. Place furniture strategically in front of electrical outlets, and use cord covers or shorteners for electrical cords, and covers for outlets.

5. Clean with Natural Products

Don't go overboard with industrial-strength chemicals to create a perfectly sterile environment. Harsh chemicals can be irritating for a newborn. Also, according to Johns Hopkins Medicine, some studies show that a baby who is exposed to pet dander and a certain amount of ordinary household dirt is less likely to develop allergies or asthma.

Don't use strong antimicrobial cleaning agents; instead, use non-toxic cleaning products to prepare your home without making it entirely sterile. Also, be sure to take off your shoes before you enter the house.

Having a baby is a wonderful experience – no matter how exhausting the first few months can be. These five tips will help ensure that your newborn is safe and comfortable.

Happy 70th Birthday Thomas!

Tuesday, October 20, 2015

Happy Birthday Thomas! Kenzo was so excited when he heard the news. We're going to Thomas' 70th birthday celebration at SM Mall of Asia. At first, I was hesitant to bring him there because we'll be travelling all the way from North to South but his dad agreed that he'll accompany us. Yay! Great news for Kenzo :) He was so excited to see Thomas and the gang. He was counting how many nights 'til the big day. After a week, his dream of joining Thomas' 70th Birthday Celebration came true!

We we're fortunate that we made it to Thomas the Tank Engine's 70th Birthday Bash last September 27, 2015. Kenzo was very happy! When we arrived at the venue, all the kids we're wearing Thomas and Friends costumes and we're also happy and excited to join the celebration. More photos on what happened during Thomas 70th Birthday below :)

During the event, Thomas and his friends prepared a lot of activities to all the kids who were present in the venue. Thomas' crew also encouraged all the attendees to wear costumes and join the contest. We saw awesome costumes of Thomas the Tank Engine. The kids wore different designs and some were created by their parents.

The event was open to public. The kids were so happy that day, the venue was full of Thomas and Friends merchandise including toys, clothes, play sets, and other collectibles. Aside from the program, there were play stations and booths inside the venue so that other kids who did not join the contest have other things to do. Thomas and Friends carnival-themed party includes a play area, arts and crafts area, face painting and photo booth.

Thomas and his friends also prepared a storytelling session for all the kids before they announce the winner of the best in Thomas costume contest. All the kids were behave listening to the story.

Everyone was so excited to see Thomas but he wasn't able to make it that day. But sir TopHam Hat also known as the Fat Controller arrived and performed a dance number with the train crew. The program ended with the announcement of winners. There were three winners for the best in Thomas the Train costumes. I can say all the winners were deserving to win because if you'll look closely, the costumes were made with passion by their parents. It's creativity at its finest!
