     Hello dearies! Sharing my thoughts on the newest formulation of the infamous collagen brand- Meiji Amino Collagen Powder. If my memory serves me right, this is the 3rd time I'm going to review this collagen brand. I saw positive effects during the time I'm taking it that's why reviewing it again to see if it has the same results after finishing one can for a month.

     I have high hopes with Japanese supplements as they have the strictest standards when it comes to the manufacturing process. They are constantly innovating to meet the demands of the consumers that's why I think they reformulated again for the third time because their supplement has one flaw- the odor of the formulations before.      The last time I had my hair colored from a reputable salon was last December 2016. It took almost a year before I decided to say 'yes' for another hair coloring sesh from a known hair salon because of availability and accessibility. 

     I've been itching to color my hair last month using DIY color but decided to postpone it because the shade that I want is not available at Watsons. I think the heavens heard my plea last week. I know it's time to refresh my hair color because the roots are showing up and the ends are breaking. Hooray for a day of pampering and 'me' time at Status Hair Salon Maginhawa branch.      What is beauty to you? I presume that your default answer would be "beauty is in the eye of the beholder" or "beauty is subjective" then give a follow through answer to the one asking the question- "beauty is subjective, what's beautiful for me may not be beautiful to you." I agree with 'beauty is subjective' because beauty varies among cultures. 

     We have different definitions and standards of beauty that's why I believe that everyone is beautiful. I'm always moved by Dove campaigns because they focus on women empowerment. Their commercial ads are mostly real talk- inviting women to embrace their natural beauty despite the imperfections and flaws.      Hello dearies, as promised here's the review of Meiji Amino Collagen supplement. It's not the first brand of collagen supplement that I've tried. There are local brands in the market today and most of them are easily accessible. What made me itch to try this product is the country of origin- Japan. We all know that most of the Japanese skin care products are of high quality and effective even if some have a high price tag.

     Like what I always say in my supplement reviews, before using anti-aging skin care product one must consult their dermatologist first if in doubt. Not all anti-aging skin care products are used by individuals who are 30 years old and above.      The recommended daily intake of collagen should be around 3,000-5,000 mg a day. A scoop of Meiji Amino Collagen contains 5,000 mg already and once mixed with your favorite drinks, it becomes potent now that you'll be drinking it in liquid form. After consuming one can that is good for twenty-eight (28) days, I see promising and positive results not only in my skin but in my hair and nails. I noticed that when I was still taking the supplement, I look less haggard even if I only have 4 hours of sleep and running errands whole day.

You can still see eye bags in both photos, but on the second one, I look less haggard. Both photos were taken daytime and I also noticed one more thing, did I get lighter?

What I like:

• Meiji Amino Collagen is very affordable.
• It is FDA approved.
• Comes in a well-sealed can. It is double sealed- one with plastic wrap at the lid and another seal on top before opening the can. It's also available in refill pouch. Don't worry about measuring because it comes with a scoop.
• Meiji Amino Collagen also contains other ingredients like Arginine and Glucosamine for other health benefits.
• There's a mild fishy scent and my sensitive nose can tolerate it. The scent disappears once the powder is dissolved in liquid drink/s.
• I didn't experience any discomforts like vomiting, headache, nausea, breakouts or whatsoever.
• It made my skin glowing even if there were times that I only have 4 hours of sleep.
• Made my skin soft and supple.
• My nails are less brittle and my hair fall lessened too.
• I always wake up with plump and moist skin. I look less haggard too.
• My skin looks healthy and shiny- not the 'oil' type of shine, if you may ask.
• Batch, manufacturing and expiry date printed on the package.

What I don't like:

• Not easily accessible.
• Since it made my skin plump, I look like I gained weight. I can see fats under my jaw.  

Will I purchase? Yes! This is in my oral anti-aging supplement list and will buy a refill every now and then when I ran out of stock. Good thing there is a refill with the same price of the can but has an extra scoop for two days.

Recommendation:

     I give this a 5/5 rating. The price is very affordable and this is the best collagen supplement that I've tried so far. Since I don't have crow's feet around my eye area, I'll be neutral on that. I have pre-mature wrinkles in my undereye that's visible if my concealer creases but during the time I'm taking Meiji Amino Collagen supplement, I rarely see my concealer crease. 

     I'm happy that I only have a few fine lines and wrinkles that are unnoticeable as of the moment. While taking the supplement, I did see a minor change in the size of my pores and my skin felt a bit tight and made my skin plumper so I look like I gained a little weight in photos. Plumper skin emphasized the extra fat in my jaw area.      When it comes to salon hair care and services, I only trust a few stylists to touch my crowning glory. Since I have a colored-treated hair, it's given that my locks are prone to dryness and frizz. We're already in the last quarter of the year and this means that we will be entering the busy months of October, November, and December.      CEDAR Salon is the newest oasis in the city where one can reinvigorate and recharge the senses. Upon entering the salon, I felt relaxed because of the soothing spa ambiance. No funky-chemicalish salon scent, so those with sensitive nose can relax and breathe during your entire stay at the salon. But if you're having a hair color treatment, expect to smell a little bit of ammonia.

     The place is roomy and has perfect lighting with big mirrors. I can say there's a zen in the room where all the services are made. I like the minimal design and the furniture in this salon. Relaxing, indeed!

     During the event, I was introduced to my stylist Jake. He is very kind and approachable. Yay to him because he did a great job in coloring my hair. I had a heart-to-heart talk with him in terms on cut, color, and style. He discussed with me the trends in hair cut that suits my hair type. I have long, thin and limp hair that I've kept uncut for almost 2 years. He said that I needed to cut the ends of my hair and give it a u-shaped look. I'll summarize below the important things he said to me and why I've achieved the hair color that I wanted :)

• Before going to the salon, decide what hair color you like and let the stylist study it first.
• Rule of the thumb- if you have bleached hair or you have light hair color from the very start, expect that you will achieve the true color that you want or almost the same and close shade.
• If  you're really dying to have that hair color you have to undergo hair bleaching BUT always consider the condition of your hair.
• The quality of hair dye that will be used in coloring your hair depends on the brand. It's not a must but as much as possible, stick to only one brand of hair color so that next time that you're going to have another coloring sesh, you will achieve the hair color you want without the fuss.
• If you will not undergo hair bleaching, the only thing that will work in achieving the closest shade of your dream hair color is by mixing dyes. Ask  you stylist to give you a copy of the color chart. From the chart, let him explain which is which. What colors he/she is going to mix so that you will have an idea what the color will look like after application and waiting time.
• Always choose color + treatment service on the day of your visit to the salon. Remember that after the coloring process, hair is in the delicate state where all the nutrients have been stripped of because of the hair dye BUT fret NOT- hair treatment is here to rescue!
• Relax and enjoy while waiting for your new hair color. You can ask the stylist anything you want about the process and the after care treatment.
• Use hair care products- shampoo, conditioner, serum for colored-treated hair. Since the hair color will eventually fade, make sure to use products that will make the fading beautiful.

     So here's the color of my hair after the event. Take note that this color will fade on the 4th or 5th day to the hair color that I really want- close ash brown hair color without bleaching. After the event, I can see that it's really the ash brown that I've dreamed of before. Jake also explained to me that the color of my hair will fade in either of the two shades in the chart because fading also depends on the hair care products I'm using.

     After almost a week, I took another photo to see how beautiful my hair color faded. I run out of shampoo for color-treated hair that's why I'm using organic one right now. I also use a conditioner for color-treated hair. The photo was taken around 5 p.m. in natural lighting. No filter or other effects used. I also love the hair treatment  used in my hair after the color sesh. It made my hair soft, smooth, and shiny!

David's Salon x Honda Biker Beauty Event

    Last Friday, I was invited to experience an afternoon of pampering sesh by David's Salon and Honda Philippines Inc.  The Biker Beauty: David's Salon x Honda Pampering Day was a collaboration by two of the country's best in transportation and salon industry. David's Salon is the default slash go-to salon of my family. We made frequent trips to their SM City Fairview branch for our much needed hair cut. My sister also had her hair rebonded there once.

     So when I received a short notice invite, I got so excited and asked the hubby to allow me to attend the event. Product Review: Pantene 3 Minute Miracle Conditioner

     Hello dearies! I'm sure you've seen beauty bloggers raved about Pantene 3 Minute Miracle 10 conditioner and I'm also one of them who experienced great results after my first use. As much as possible, I want to share my thoughts after finishing the tube because I want to see the long term- positive and negative effects of the product that I'm road-testing. 

     It's been weeks since I received a 70 ml tube of Pantene 3 Minute Miracle Total Damage Care 10 variant. I emptied the tube after 10 days and I can say that on my 5th day of use, I saw my hair became shinier and the ends were softer and smoother. I have color-treated hair that's why I worry about the obvious frizz, dryness and split ends once the color starts to fade. I'm already on my 2nd tube of Pantene 3 Minute Miracle Total Damage Care 10 conditioner and I bought a bigger size instead. Anyhoo, more of my great experience about this conditioner after the jump. Product Review: Davines Nounou Pak Nourishing Repairing Mask

     Having color-treated hair is not easy at all. Once the roots start to show, I'm getting conscious because of the uneven color. Aside from this dilemma, I also consider the texture and the state of my hair strands after a month of hair dye application. Color-treated hair are considered 'abused' hair because most of the health-stripping nutrients are found in these chemicals. The more we color our hair, the more it is susceptible to damages like breakage, split-ends, coarseness, dryness and stiffness. Other kinds of after coloring effects may include scalp irritation and hair fall. 

     I've been sporting color-treated hair for the longest time now. It's been 4 years and sometimes I feel 'naked' when the roots start to show.  My last hair color (Balayage Ombre by Azta Urban Salon) and hair treatment (Oi Oil) were from Davines. Their products are specifically crafted from nature to meet your hair's every need and based from my experience, my hair is still in good shape after the last hair color and treatment I've had.
