Product Review: Dolly Wink Pencil Eyeliner in Black

Monday, August 29, 2016

Hello dearies! Sharing with you a quick review of my current fave eyeliner- Dolly Wink Pencil Eyeliner in Black. I got this as a token from Row101 Summer Pop Up Bazaar launch last April. Dolly Wink is a famous make-up brand in Japan. According to Pinky Paradise website:
This range contains everything you could ever need to make your new circle lenses really shine! Perfect to achieve that Gyaru style, we have everything from eyebrow mascara to liquid eyeliner, false eyelashes to eyelash fix to give that perfect bold effect to emphasize your stunning new look eyes. Endorsed by the beautiful Japanese model Tsubasa Masuwaka who is synonymous with the Gyaru trend.
This brand is not new to me because I've seen their false eyelashes in my Hong Kong trip years ago. I'm only familiar with their falsies and never knew that they have eyeliners in different colors and textures too. I'm happy that I took this pencil eyeliner home, actually it's my first pencil eyeliner review to date (the one that needs to be sharpened). So without further ado, my honest to goodness review of Dolly Wink Pencil Eyeliner in Black :)

This is a limited edition product from Dolly Wink. It comes with a liquid eyeliner plus the pencil eyeliner that I'm currently using. I'm not into liquid eyeliner pens as of the moment so I'll just reserve my review for that in the future but for now, let's take a look at the pencil eyeliner. I've included the liquid eyeliner pen in some of the photos below for comparison but the review will be more focused on the pencil eyeliner.

In the swatch above, the pencil eyeliner is matte while the liquid pen is glossy. If you're into liquid eyeliner and likes to draw thin sharp lines, I think the latter one is for you. I have shaky hands and using liquid eyeliner is challenging.

Line my upper lash line with the pencil eyeliner, pardon the not so good line here

What I like:
  • The packaging is super cute. I like the color and design of this eyeliner pencil.

  • No need to warm up this eyeliner because the texture is velvety soft and creamy that's why it's easy to apply.
  • Easy to use. I have no issues in drawing thin or thick lines.
  • The color pay-off is good.
  • It has a matte finish.
  • Last up to 12 hours or longer.
  • No smudging on my not so oily eyelids even in hot and humid weather.
  • Doesn't wear off easily and no bleeding.
  • I can control the intensity of the lines that I'm doing on my eyelids.
  • Even though it's waterproof, it is easy to remove using my eye makeup remover.
  • It's easy to sharpen, the lead doesn't break while sharpening.
  • Sealed upon purchase.
  • It's a steal if you buy this limited edition because for only 699, you'll get two eyeliners.
  • Batch, manufacturing and expiry date printed on the label.
  • Easily accessible.

What I don't like:
  • None

Will I repurchase? A big fat YES!!!

Recommendation:
I give this a 5/5 rating. First impressions last! So for my first pencil eyeliner (kohl) review, it's a keeper in my makeup stash. I use it almost every day. I think I've found my HG pencil eyeliner in Dolly Wink so no need to search for a new brand to try for now. You can also buy this separately, it's available in select Watsons and SM Beauty sections plus I've seen a stall of Dolly Wink in Landmark Trinoma and Makati.

I highly recommend this brand if you're into pencil eyeliners. Have you tried Dolly Wink Eyeliners?

Good Times!~

5 Makeup Hacks You Never Thought About

Monday, March 23, 2015

Craving to carry an enigmatic look? Well, to start with, let’s have a brief look at how our makeup industry transformed with those innocent and innovative hacks. It’s been thousands of years that Egyptians made use of aromatic oils to soften their skin soft and cover body odours. Imagine what you call them today! They are popular as moisturizers and deodorants.

Around 600 decades back, Egyptians daubed kohl around their eyes and today they have come to be known as eye liners.

Going in the same line, the people of China around 1000 years back coloured their nails with something that is a melange of egg, gum, gum Arabic, gelatine and beeswax. Guess what we call them today? They are the stunning, glossy and colourful nail polish.

Further down the timeline, Japanese used rice powder to waxen their faces. Today, you call that loose powder.

Aren’t they cool and smart? Wait a moment before you arrive to a conclusion. With loud popularity of the Internet, this present generation has discovered some crazy, off-beat and alluring make-up hacks that you can attempt at home. Here, steal a look at the 5 most surprising make up hacks.

Product Review: Tony Moly Easy Touch Auto Eye Liner

Sunday, January 25, 2015

So after finishing my Etude House eyeliner pencil last November, I decided to buy another pencil from le sister company which is Tony Moly. I had a not so good experience with Etude House eyeliner in terms of the staying power but I still manage to finish the whole pencil albeit the transfer on my upper lids upon application. I just use a cotton buds to wipe the smudge and I'm good to go. A bit tedious on the apply-wipe part but there's no biggie because the price is el cheapo.

Anyhoo, the search for a good eyeliner pencil is over! Finally, found the right kind of eyeliner pencil for my monolids. It's not the ordinary retractable eyeliner pencil because it's a gel-like eyeliner pencil that's very easy to use and stays all day long. This eyeliner pencil from Tony Moly stole my heart! True to its name- Easy Touch Auto Eye Liner that is easy peasy to use. I'm excited to share with you my honest to goodness review of Tony Moly Easy Touch Auto Eye Liner so without further ado click CONTINUE READING to see photos and swatches :)

Product Review: Etude House Styling Eyeliner in 01 Black

Saturday, October 04, 2014

Because I've been trying to lessen the makeup that I wear when I go out or attend events, the only thing that I want to focus right now are my eyes. No, I will not apply eye shadows as I still can't get the hang of it (the blending) but to find the perfect eyebrow powder and eyeliner pen that will not make me look snob and old. In search of a good eyeliner, I stumbled upon Etude House months ago and saw in their shelves that they have affordable eyeliners to boot.

So I decided to buy one of their cheapest eye liner to test the color payoff and if it will smudge on my not so oily eyelids. I don't expect too much from this eyeliner because of the price but I've heard that Etude House's product are worth the try! I've been using this product almost everyday, during events and errands time. I'm sure you've seen reviews of this products from other local and foreign beauty bloggers around the web so here I am sharing my take on this product. So without further ado, click CONTINUE READING and see if this eye liner is a keeper or not :)

Product Review: Essence Stays No Matter What 24h Waterproof Eyeliner Pen

Sunday, December 15, 2013

Hello, Happy Sunday to all! I'm back with another review. I miss sharing product reviews and I know I owe you a lot. So for today, I'll be sharing a review of another eyeliner that was sent to me by Essence Philippines months ago. It's actually my prize from their Facebook fan page contest. I was very lucky that day because I'm the last sharer of the contest photo then I was tagged by my sister that I won two products from them Essence Stays No Matter What 24h Waterproof Eyeliner Pen and Essence All About Curl Mascara that I'll be reviewing on my next post.

If you're a long time reader of this blog, I've shared my love-hate relationship with eyeliner pens. The first eyeliner pen that I've tried was ELF and that eyeliner pen gave me a very horrible experience. If you want to read my review click HERE. Another eyeliner pen was from a local brand and I'm happy that it gave me positive results. So now here's another eyeliner pen that I think was one of the best that I've tried so far. I have a not so oily lids that's why I don't use eye primer when applying this eyeliner. If you want to know my thoughts about this product click CONTINUE READING to find out!

Product Review: BYS Automatic Eye Pencil in 04 Super Soft Black

Friday, July 12, 2013

This product is an impulse buy but I have no regrets buying it because it was actually a good buy! I'm not a fan of black liners. I find the color too off because I look mataray (snobbish) from the black eyeliners that I've tried before. I'm not sure if that's only my perception when I apply black eyeliner on my eyelids but I always doubt when it's black. I always say to myself  that it's not for me. If there are two things that I regard as my weapon to look simply pretty, that probably the lipstick and eyeliner. I don't know why I got hooked with eyeliners lately. Maybe it's because I noticed my eyelids look different from each other and to mask that I need to apply eyeliners may it be brown-my fave or black. Okay, a NEW fave :)

So in search of my HG black eyeliner, I secretly spying on three brands whenever I go window shopping at malls around my area. Every time I swatch a gel or pencil eyeliner, I always have doubts inside my head. Aside from the brand, I always check the price. As I've said on the the very first paragraph of this post, it's an impulse buy. It happened months ago when I dropped by at Watsons Sm Fairview just to replenish my stock of Purederm Makeup Remover Wipes. The SA approached me and said she wanted to try their eyeliner on my eyelids since I'm not wearing my fave Choco eyeliner from Virginia Olsen that day. I was convinced because I saw a lady who just bought this and purchased three different colors. Well, I should thank her if ever we'll cross our paths again because my impulse buy is really worth it!
BYS Automatic Eye Pencil in 04 Super Soft Black
This automatic wind up eyeliner pencil makes for easy and handy application. Black is the must have shade and with a slightly harder lead will create fine lines and definition.

Product Review: San San Waterproof Eyeliner Pen with Vitamins A, C & E

Tuesday, May 01, 2012

Hi lovelies! I'm sooo lazy these past few days. It's really hot everywhere. I can't concentrate on doing simple household chores and easily get pissed off with my son's naughtiness. I need to stay calm and some window shopping can stop my temperament from rising.

So today I wanna share some insights on my new eyeliner pen. If you're a follower of my blog, prolly you know that I made a rant on E.L.F. Eyeliner Pen. After that experienced, I veered away from all the pen eyeliner that I saw at Watsons and Sm Department store beauty section. I said to myself that I'll just stick to my San San gel liner and will try out other brands after I finished it. Luckily, my youngest sister gave me this eyeliner pen from San San that she bought on sale. I have positive review on their gel liner and I know this product will not fail me.

San San Waterproof Eyeliner Pen with Vitamins A, C & EOn my eye, sorry wasn't able to take a clear photo of the eyeliner itself
size: 0.07 fl.oz. / 2.0ml

price: 85php- on sale (Around $2.00)

place bought: HBC store, Sm Fairview

ingredients: Aqua, Styrene Acrylates Copolymer, Polyglyceryl-3 Distearate, Retinyl Palmitate  (Vitamin A), Ascorbyl Palmitate (Vitamin C), Tocopheryl Acetate (Vitamin E), Propyl Paraben, CI 77491, CI 77499, CI 77492,CI 77891

What I like:
  • Simple packaging and there's a color indicator below the pen
  • Affordable
  • Complete details listed on the packaging with batch, manufacturing and expiry date
  • The pen tip is not dry and the shape is great for beginners to practice thin and thick lines
  • Glides easily
  • Color pay off is good
  • Dries quickly after lining my eyes
  • Easy to remove using my facial wipes
  • No raccoon eyes
What I don't like:
  • Always OOS! I already went to 5 HBC stores to get a backup and wasn't able to get one
  • Not rub proof and smudge proof
Will I repurchase? Yes! I already considered this as my to-go eyeliner pen

Recommendation:
I give this a 4/5 rating. After losing hope on my first eyeliner pen experience, I think I'm going back to try other brands. For ladies with oily eyelids, you can put eye primer first to avoid smudging. Since the weather is really hot, it is better to place the eyeliner in a cooler place to avoid drying out. Always replace cap after use and store it upside down.

That's all for now! What's your favorite eyeliner pen? Thanks for sharing.

Good Times!~
