My Sample Room Products for May + Hauls

Saturday, May 11, 2013

Hello long weekend! Let's rock this 3 day- vacation by doing things we love and by making the right decision on the list of candidates to vote. My Sample Room Products for this month came last week and I decided to get this skin care samples from Gluta-C. But take note that Sample Room is not only giving samples, they also offer products in full-sizes! That's why I'm very happy with Sample Room. You all know that I love organic whitening soaps but when I saw Gluta-C samples, I didn't think twice and got myself a bar of whitening soap and bottle of lotion. Since Gluta-C is another promising brand of skin care to love, they deserve a space here on my blog :)
Gluta-C Lotion
Gluta- C Soap
I will test both products for two weeks, let's see how these products will fare on my skin :) I also bought products to replenish my skin care. I'm sure you're already bored with the same stuff you see on my haul posts. When I say it's my fave or my HG, expect to see it over and over again!
Beauty and Bright Soaps
Nature Republic Nail Polish Remover
Human Heart Nature Facial Scrub
L.A. Colors Lipstick in Amethyst
Aside from skin care loves, I also bought new stuff! It's my first time to try a Korean brand of nail polish remover. It's my 6th bar of Beauty and Bright soaps and 2nd tube of Human Heart Nature Facial Scrub. A new lippie- I saw Gie of Third World Fashion sporting violet lips using the same lipstick above and her review got me sold!

Snoe Beso Balm
BYS Brow and Eye Pencil
Here's an addition to my makeup stash. I bought a new eyeliner and eyebrow gel liner from BYS. I still love my Virgina Olsen Choco Eyeliner but I want to try a black pen type eyeliner for days when I'm very lazy to put makeup on. Just eyeliner and eyebrow color and I'm good to go. I already hit the pan of my fave Carmex Lipbalm so this time I'm going to try Snoe's Beso Balm because I'm so intrigued with the name.

That's all for now dearies, If you want to read my thoughts on the products I already reviewed on this blog just click the links below:

Product Review: Human Heart Nature Purifying Facial Scrub

Friday, December 07, 2012

Exfoliation is an important part of skin care for both the face and body. Face and body scrubs have been part of my skin care regimen ever since and I always make sure that I scrub them once or twice a week. Exfoliation helps in removing dead skin cells and make our creams, lotions, serums and other skin care products more effective because it will be absorbed more. I presume that many of us have tried St. Ives Apricot Scrub. I used it before but I find the scrub a bit harsh for my skin. If you're a long time reader of this blog prolly you know that my HG facial mask as of the moment is Purederm Dual-Well Being Pack. It's not a scrub but a peeling gel that comes with a face mask.

Since most of the skin care products that I use now contains natural ingredients, methinks it's time to look for a natural facial scrub that works! Good thing my sister won in a giveaway where she got a loot of Human Heart Nature skin products. She gave me this facial scrub weeks ago. So after two weeks of using this scrub (twice a week) here's my honest to goodness review.  This product is a keeper and an addition to my growing organic skin care products as well.
Human Heart Nature Purifying Facial Scrub
Face the year with a fresh start! Our all-new, all-natural facial scrub has real strawberry seeds and fine bamboo granules to gently scrub away dirt, oil, dull-looking skin cells as well as last year's bad habits. So you can start the year with a softer, smoother, brighter complexion and with a new year's resolution to purify your skin two to three times a week for a fresh, pure clean without that tight, dry feeling!

What I like:
  • It's organic!
  • A little amount of product goes a long way.
  • Affordable.
  • Comes in a convenient tube that's easy to use.
  • The strawberry scent is addicting.
  • Gentle yet effective in removing blackheads.
  • Doesn't dry out my skin.
  • My skin feels smooth and supple after use.
  • No irritation, breakouts or whatsoever.
  • No parabens, phthalates, SLS/SLES or other toxic substances.
  • Manufacturing, batch and expiry date printed on the packaging.

What I don't like:
  • Not readily available, I hope Human Heart Nature will bring it to leading department stores and groceries nationwide.

Will I repurchase? Yes, this product is back-up worthy.

Recommendation:
I give this a 4.75/5 rating. As much as I wanted to give this product a perfect rating, methinks will just reserve it since this is my first organic facial scrub. I will not rave too much about it because I also want to give other organic face scrubs in the market a try. BUT this facial scrub performs well and stays true to it's promise! I also love that my face feels squeaky clean without the drying and tight feeling after using this scrub.

Do you use facial scrub every week? Share your experience dearies!

Product Review: Human Heart Nature Lip Balm in Wild Berry

Sunday, July 29, 2012

I'm a lip balm girl! I consider this as one of my makeup must haves. I've tried so many brands before but only a few became my favorites. If you want to know my faves you can view my review here and here. Since I already tried an organic lip balm from a western brand, I'm on a look for something that is manufactured locally. It's obvious that I'm going gaga over organic stuff and Human Heart Nature includes my list. This brand is not new to me because I've already tried different skin care products before and I must admit that their products are affordable and effective.

This lip balm was inside the Maven's loot bag that I received from the mall tour. I'm surprised when I saw this flavor and the catchy packaging color. When I visited their website, I read that this lip balm was reformulated so it's nice to know that they improved their formula. I wish my hands got hold of their old formula so that I can have a comparison on my review. Looking back at their web page, there are also three exciting flavors to try: Peppermint, Tutti Frutti and Choco Fudge. The two latter flavor looks yummy and I need to resists this temptation of buying those because I still have two other lip balms on my kikay kit. I wanted to buy a back up on my organic lip balms including this but the shelf life is short so I really need to finish everything first.

Are you excited on my review? So here's my take on Human Heart Nature 100% Natural Lip Balm in Wild Berry. The flavor is very yummy and the scent for me is so addicting. Read more and discover another lip balm that's a steal and of course organic and why this product is a keeper :)))

I love this flavor. Smells citrusy with a hint of sweetness.

instruction for use: Exfoliating and moisturizing the lips are essential to getting pretty puckers. Exfoliate first by getting a damp cloth and rubbing it gently on your lips to remove dead cells and dry skin from the surface of your lips. Next, moisturize by using Human Nature’s natural and nourishing lip balm.

ingredients: Ricinus communis (castor) oil, beeswax, Theobroma cacao (cocoa) butter, caprylic capric triglyceride, flavor (all natural), Helianthus annuus (sunflower) seed oil, Calendula officinalis (marigold) extract, Rosmarinus officinalis (rosemary) extract, tocopherol, manganese violet (CI 77742), iron oxide (CI77491)

What I like:
  • It's organic!
  • The price- really affordable or should I say cheap.
  • The packaging is not flimsy and doesn't look cheap unlike before when I saw the old packaging from my friends makeup kit.
  • Glides smoothly and not greasy at all.
  • The scent is citrusy with a hint of sweetness that's not overpowering.
  • There's a manufacturing and expiry date printed on the label.
  • Makes my lips smooth and healthy looking
  • No waxy feel and not heavy on my lips.
What I don't like:
  • The cap has no seal. Sometimes I doubt if the lip balm is exposed or opened accidentally while on display.
Will I repurchase? Yes! I would love to try other flavors like the Peppermint and Choco Fudge :D

Recommendation:
I give this a 4.5/5 rating. I'm a lip balm girl :D The price + the moisture on my lips makes this another HG for me. I can say that this is my new day time lip balm. It does the job in moisturizing my lips prior to lipstick application. I can say goodbye to dry and chapped lips the organic way!

How many lip balms do you have? Any thoughts on Human Heart Nature's Natural lip balms?

Product Review: Human Heart Nature Citronella Bug Spray: Shoo Off Those Pesky Mosquitoes the Organic Way

Saturday, June 16, 2012

The rainy season has officially begun. Get ready with your umbrellas, raincoats, rain boots and other stuff that protects and prevents you from getting wet. Aside from these, I'm adding extra protection and prevention this season not from wet but from a dangerous infectious tropical disease. This is no other than Dengue fever! It's not an ordinary disease. Once bitten by the mosquito who carries the infection, if not given immediate medication it will lead to death. Scary but true. I myself became a victim not once but twice and I'm lucky because I survived. I don't want that to happen again! I'm always praying that it will not happen to my only son. It's too dangerous for him to have this disease. He's a G6PD deficient baby and anti- malaria's antibiotic is a no-no for him.

Anyhoo, I want to share another organic product that keeps me and my son mosquito-free. This is our third bottle now and I'm getting hooked. At first, the hubby keeps on insisting if this thing works. He's asking so many questions like can it really protect you from mosquito bites?is it safe for your son's skin? is it like Off lotion? I only replied YES!

Human Heart Nature Citronella Bug Spray
Shoo off mosquitoes and other pesky bugs with an effective, organic antidote! No dangerous chemicals mean this gentle formula is safe even for very young children.
100% No Harmful Chemicals: No DEET, parabens, phthalates, mineral oil, SLS/SLES, formaldehyde or other toxic substances.

Being a paranoid mom, I always check him from time to time if there's a suspecting mosquito bite. By the way, he's also allergic to insect bites. I'm always worried. I want to protect him from head to toe. He's wearing pajamas every day even if there were times he feels uncomfortable with it. I tried different anti-mosquito lotion but my son refuses every time I apply it on his skin. The scent of those lotions is also bothering me. It's like spraying Baygon and Raid on your skin. Even though they introduced different variants in the market, I will still prefer organic ones. I'm not new to Human Heart Nature. I'm in love with their Feminine Wash and Sunflower Beauty Oil that's why I didn't hesitate to try the Citronella Bug Spray when I saw it online.
Human Heart Nature Citronella Bug Spray

Shoo off disease-causing mosquitoes and other pesky bugs! Our all-natural, DEET-free formulation is infused with organic virgin coconut oil (VCO) - known for its skin-healing, moisturizing and anti-microbial benefits - organic citronella oil - a well-known insect repellent, and organic lemongrass essential oil together with rosemary and lavender essential oils give a pleasant aroma that’s good for you but bad for the mosquitoes and bugs. 100% of profits from this product go to fund the development of sustainable livelihood for Filipino farming communities.

Did you know: DEET is a known neurotoxin found in many pesticides and bug repellents. Studies have linked DEET to neurological damage. Once it enters the bloodstream, it makes its way to the nervous system, where it has even been known to cause seizures and death in extreme overexposure cases. It can be especially harmful to children and babies.* Why risk it? taken from Human Heart Nature website

size: 3.38 fl.oz./ 100ml

price: 159.75 php (Around $3.77+)

place bought: Human Heart Nature Store

instruction for use: Pump onto hands and rub evenly throughout the body. Avoid eyes. Reapply every 2 hours depending on the physical activity.

ingredients: Organic cocos nucifera oil, Cymbopogon winterius essential oil, Cymbopogon flexuosus essential oil, Rosmarinus officinalis essential oil, Lavandula augustifolia oil, Tocopherol (natural vitamin E)

What I like:
  • It's organic.
  • The scent is not overpowering, I like the smell of lemongrass very natural!
  • It has VCO which is very moisturizing.
  • A little goes a long way.
  • The texture is thick, it's oil-based.
  • Easily absorbed by the skin.
  • There's a little greasy feel that will fade away after a few minutes.
  • Affordable.
  • Easily accessible.
  • There are a batch, manufacturing and expiry date.
  • It's REALLY EFFECTIVE!!! I can feel that a mosquito is about to bite me but it just slides off and repels on my skin.

What I don't like:
  • None!

Will I repurchase? Yes!

Recommendation:
I give this a 5/5 rating! I really love this! A word of caution to first-time users: use sparingly if you're not comfortable applying oil to your body. You may find this a bit oily because the formula is very thick. But if you'll ask me, never mind the texture of this insect repellent. It saves the day from mosquito bites :D

Do you use insect repellents? Which one do you find effective? Share your thoughts!

Good Times!~
