Asian Secrets Bengkoang Soap with Olive Oil

Product Review: Asian Secrets Bengkoang Soap with Olive Oil

Wednesday, January 18, 2012

Hi dearies! How's your day?Mine's a bit stressful because my son is sick. It sucks big time when you see and feel that your loved one is in pain. My son's fever is on and off that's why I need to watch him even when he sleeps. I hope he'll get well soon.

Anyhoo, I will review today another product from Asian Secrets, its the Bengkoang Soap with Olive Oil variant. If you're a follower of my blog, I'm sure you know that I love organic soaps. Organic soaps form All Organics are staples in my skin care regimen. I've been using organic soaps more than a year now that's why I'm a bit hesitant to try other soaps because I know it can cause different kinds of reaction. I've learned that once you've found your HG you must stick to it but the curiosity in me strikes back and telling me to try this soap because of the Bengkoang, same as the Singkamas soap from All Organics that I'm also using and made a review here.

Asian Secrets Bengkoang Indonesian Whitening Soap contains Bengkoang (Yam Bean Extract), a widely popular whitening ingredient in Indonesia that can be found in the islands of Sumatra and Java. It also contains Olive Oil to moisturize skin and protect it from dryness.

size: 100g

price: 70 php (Around $1.60)

place bought: Watson's Health and Beauty Store, Sm Fairview

instructions for use: Use soap to wash face and body. For maximum effect use it everyday.

ingredients: Oleamidoproryl Betaine, Tallow, Stearic Acid, Fragrance, Pachyrrhizus erosus (Yam Bean) Root Extract, Olea Europaea (Olive) Oil, Titanium Dioxide, Tetrasodium EDTA.

What I like:
  • I think the shape of the soap is unique.
  • Affordable for a 100g soap.
  • The soap is firm and doesn't melt easily.
  • It leaves my skin smooth and moisturized.
  • Manufacturing, batch and expiry date is printed on the box.
What I don't like:
  • I'm not a fan of the scent- reminds me of Irish Spring soaps that has a bit of masculine scent.
  • Haven't seen any whitening or lightening on blemishes that I have.
Will I repurchase? No, I just tried it out of curiosity and because of the raves that Asian Secrets Lulur scrub had.

Recommendation:
I give this a 3.75/5 rating. It does the job well in cleansing without drying your skin. It doesn't melt easily so i think it's a plus factor for those who are on a budget. But again the scent for me is a bit strange. I like fruity and citrus-y scented soaps.

Have you tried Asian Secrets' Soaps? What variant do you prefer? Thanks for sharing!

Good Times!~
