Sangobion Be A Lifesaver Event: Share the Chance to Go Love Life

Saturday, December 06, 2014

Hi dearies! With all the events happening like Christmas parties and merry making, have you asked yourself how you can make someone else's life important and meaningful this yuletide season? I'm sure that the things you'll have in mind are giving gifts, donating foods, clothes, and other things to the less fortunate individuals but there's also another thing that you can do to help and save lives. How about blood donation?

Did you know that 1 out of 7 Filipinos who enter the hospital are in need of blood? That's about 2,000 to 2,500 units needed daily. We all know that reliable blood supply is essential to health care practice, especially in treating diseases such as dengue and cancer plus hemodialysis patients. So there is great demand for blood and yet not everyone gets to have access due to lack of supply. When our friends from Sangobion invited me to Be A Lifesaver: Share the Chance to Go Love Life event, I immediately said yes because I'm a Sangobion user and I support this kind of campaign. I want to be a part of this advocacy since my father is a hemodialysis patient, I know how healthy blood is important in prolonging their lives. So without further ado, here's the highlight of this very successful campaign of Sangobion and Philippine Red Cross. Click CONTINUE READING now and see how these volunteers showed their support in saving one's life through blood donation.

The Philippine Red Cross has been actively supporting different hospitals nationwide by providing 25-30% of the country's needs. But even then, the supply still doesn't reach the targeted amount. That is why Merck Inc. partnered with Philippines Red Cross to start a project that aims to help reach the blood requirements of the country. This program will be propagated by one of Merck's leading brands, Sangobion- an organic iron supplement that helps women fight the signs or iro deficiency so they can Go Love Life.  As it boosts iron, it also keeps the blood healthy, thus it helps women who take Sangobion to look, feel, and perform at their best.

With a shared vision, Sangobion and the Philippine Red Cross run a blood drive called Be A Lifesaver. Together, they will encourage women to extend their hand to other women and take the role of a 'lifesaver' by simply donating their healthy blood. The event was held at the SM City Faiview Annex Activity Center. As a part of the program, Sangobion also have a four-phase Iron Challenge activity where participants will do different tasks that will measure their performance. Those who passed the challenge received souvenir items and Sangobion samples.

These were the unsung heroes who volunteered that day. I salute you all the braveness by donating your blood and extending the lives of many Filipinos who need it the most. Honestly, I'm so happy that I'm a part of this campaign because the accumulated blood will save many lives including my father who is a dialysis patient. We my father's blood supply directly at Philippine Red Cross and yes, it's so true that the there's a great demand for blood. Thank you from the bottom of my heart because through this donation, you already have extended my father's life and the lives of many Filipinos.
